Ohhhhh... The places I'll go!
Yes, I'll admit it! I suppose at this stage in my life, speaking my truth is about all I can do and it's about time I do so. You'll be seeing a lot of candid, personal posts on this blog I suppose over the next few years. Why Not? Hey! Get to know me, I say. It's fun and I've lived a long and quite interesting life if I say do so myself! And anyway, it's good to share all of this experience with all of you.
Ever since I was a tiny baby sitting high up in the nape of the back of my parents seats in our awesome/sparkly-orange-encrusted/mag-wheeled/super-charged/restored 30's Model-T, going from one car show to the next practically every weekend throughout each Spring, Summer and Fall, I have ALWAYS loved traveling.
I have always truly adored being in other places and seeing and experiencing new things and meeting new people. Put me in a car and point it in any direction and just keep gong and going and going and I am and will be just about as happy as I can be.
My New England and California weekend drives were just EPIC and I've honestly seen just about every highway and back road there is in Northern California! From Monterrey Bay up to Eureka and over to the Sierras! Over a decade of driving 4-5 days a week on my sales route combined with epic weekend jaunts took me just about everywhere and anywhere you could drive in Northern California. In New England, it was all about Vermont, Southern Maine and all of Massachusetts! I drove through Europe for a few weeks during a two month stay in the Summer of 1999 as well! It was deeply magical! This is pre-internet Google map days of course. All I had was a map and a car! I loved every minute of it and didn't get lost once. Although most of it was just wanderlust anyway! So it was hard to ever feel lost if you are always happy where you're going. And now, back home here, well... just point me anywhere in ANY direction and I'll be happy as a clam!
I feel, that moving (if you do it often enough) is similar to extended-stay-traveling. It just heightens, broadens and deepens the experience of your path of your life as well as your personal/mental/psychological/emotional growth as a human being.
I was asked the other day just how many places I've moved since I was 18 and honestly, in the course of answering, I simply lost count. So I thought it might be fun here to list 'em all. If for no other reason for me to see where the heck I've been over the last 20 years.
I love the change of perspective moving gives you. I feel you gain exponential insight and experience and so much growth every time you move. And although I feel I am finally ready to settle down... I think it's time to take a look back at just how many places I've moved.
This should be interesting. I'm sure there are those of you with unlimited funds and or awesome careers that far exceed the list I'm gonna unfurl here.. but it's not a contest, I'm just curious to see and share it with all of you.
